Russia, along with Japan, has had a colorful history of coming out with the wackiest inventions. These gas powered boots operate on the same principles as the internal combustion engine in your car, but instead of turning wheels it gives the boosts an added “jump” that allows the wearer to run at speeds of up to 22 mph. Gordeyev, the Russian government had it classified as a military secret until 1994, after which it was unsuccessfully marketed to venture capitalists around the world.
