The Last King of Scotland

There is a reason why “Last King of Scotland” recieved no nominations for best film, and that’s because it’s really just an above average movie at best.  Forest Whitaker however, deserves every award he can get his hands on for his bravura performance as the late Ugandan dictator Idi Amin.  That alone is worth the price of admission.

  1. it was pretty impressive. And an important topic. Africa remains the unknown country. Anyone want to do Mandela?

Could it simply be because the five films nominated were better? Maybe Last King was top 6? In a related note, Will Smith was also nominated for Ali, in a great performance for a rather boring film.

  3. it could be, but the point still remains that Whitaker’s performance was what really brought attention to this movie, and deservingly so.

  4. Looks like I need to so some watching. Out of all the nominees, I’ve only seen The Departed
